WRC Croatia 2021 - events transpired!

27.04.2021

This weekend was one of the most nerve-wracking weekends this year for the team! SRT took part in WRC Croatia this weekend with Nikolay Gryazin in VW Polo R5 and wasn't it entertaining?

The rally started off great for our team, Nikolay took 9 stage wins overall and was a worthy competitor to all the WRC2 participants. The rally itself was great - roads were complicated and challenging and really interesting to drive on.  Problems started when the car lost oil pressure in the stearing wheel system that led to a loss in time and a very physical workout on Nikolays part. And shortly after that, the next day, rally ended early for N.Gryazi when a small hit turned the car upside down blocking the road and was not able to compete any further. The crew is ok and didn't suffer any injuries.

A small comment from N.Gryazin via Facebook:

What can I say about this event: we had a dramatic finish, not as we planned but with the 9 stage wins in WRC2 we managed to show our pace and proved ourselves and the sponsors that we have done good preparation and we are competitive. Roads were amazing and a huge shoutout for the organizer of @croatiarally for making this excellent event! 👏🏻
Special thanks to our gravel crew and the team @sportsracingtechnologies
See you all in Rally Portugal!
SRT team WRC project manager Arturs Priednieks: “This rally showed us a lot, first of all, all tests that we did before have yielded results, Nikolay had 9 stage wins and this is what we are looking at! Of course, finish went not as planned, but It's only those who do nothing make no mistakes. In 2nd day we had some problems with power steering and crew lost time on stages, that’s why in 3rd day Nikolay pushed the maximum to recover the lost, unfortunately a bit over the limit. But that’s part of the game, most important, we were found perfect car set up and the crew was able to show impressive performance. Nothing can stop us, after Croatia we are still in militant mood and looking only forward! See You all in WRC Portugal!”
